Our vehicle checks are free to use. To pay for running the site, we earn money from adverts and from some links to other companies. Here's exactly how that works.
Affiliate links
Some links on PlateWise are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the company pays us a commission. You pay the same price as you would going to them directly.
At the moment our main partner is [Name of your history-check affiliate partner], which provides paid vehicle history checks covering things free government data can't, such as outstanding finance and insurance write-offs.
How we label them
- Partner offers are labelled “Sponsored” or “Includes partner offers”.
- Affiliate buttons carry a note saying they're affiliate links.
- Affiliate links are marked for search engines as sponsored (
rel="sponsored"), in line with search engine guidelines.
Adverts
If you consent to advertising cookies, we show ads from Google AdSense. Ads are labelled “Advertisement”, and we keep them away from buttons and the registration box so they can't be clicked by mistake. You can change your choice at any time in our cookie settings.
Our promise
- Commissions and adverts never change the vehicle data, results or analysis we show you.
- We only recommend paid checks where free data genuinely can't answer the question.
- Our guides are written to be useful, whether or not you ever click a partner link.
We aim to follow the UK Advertising Codes (CAP Code) and the Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on online endorsements. If you think we've got something wrong, please tell us.
