How to keep MOT costs down
- Do simple checks first. Bulbs, wiper blades, washer fluid, tyre tread and a clear windscreen cause lots of avoidable failures.
- Deal with advisories early. Our MOT advisories check shows what was flagged last time.
- Test early. Use the due date calculator to find your window, so a fail doesn't leave you unable to drive.
- Use council-run test centres where available. They test but don't do repairs, so they have no incentive to find extra work.
