About us
PlateWise is run by Muhammad Bilal trading as PlateWise, a sole trader based at Ras Laffan, Qatar. You can contact us at info@motcheckfree.uk or through our contact page.
The service
PlateWise lets you look up publicly available vehicle information, including MOT history from DVSA and vehicle and tax details from the DVLA, and presents it with our own analysis. The checks are free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service at any time.
Information is provided as-is
We present official data as we receive it, but we can't guarantee it's complete, accurate or up to date. Our own analysis, such as mileage alerts, recurring-issue grouping, ULEZ estimates and statistics by model, is a guide, not professional advice. Always confirm important information at the source and get a vehicle inspected before you buy it. See our disclaimer.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass or track an individual
- scrape, crawl or make automated or bulk requests, except through search engines indexing public pages
- try to get around rate limits, security measures or access controls
- copy, resell or republish our reports or analysis as a service without our written permission
- interfere with the site's operation, for example by introducing malicious code
We may block access if we believe these terms have been broken.
Intellectual property
The site's design, text, analysis and code belong to us or our licensors. Government data is used under the Open Government Licence and remains Crown copyright. You may print or save reports for your own personal use.
Links and partners
We link to other websites, including partners who pay us a commission. We aren't responsible for their content, products or services. Your dealings with them are between you and them. See our affiliate disclosure.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. If you're a consumer, your statutory rights aren't affected.
Because the service is free and the information comes from third parties, we aren't liable for any loss arising from relying on it, including decisions to buy, sell or use a vehicle, or for any business losses. We aren't responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

We may update these terms. The version on this page, with its date, is the one that applies.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
